6 month appointment

***Warning - this post is really for Peyton when she's older***

Here is the update from Peyton's 6th month appointment today:
1. Ear infection is totally clear and her ears look good.
2. She weighs 17 pounds - gained 2 pounds since her 4 month appointment.
3. Her head has grown (good thing because it didn't grow as much the last time.)
4. Her length is 27 inches. This is a little odd because she was 26 3/4 last time. There is no way that she only grew 1/4 inch. So the Dr. is convinced that the measurements were off last time. We'll see what they are in another month.
5. She had her two normal shots plus the flu shot. We go back in a month for the booster. She's really not exposed to much being home with Dad, but it never hurts to keep her protected in case I bring it home.
6. Dr said that the it's normal for breastfed babies to wake up more often at night. I said "oh, like every hour." So not kidding.
7. Peyton can now move from her veggies to fruits and juice. We had applesauce tonight. Yum! She wasn't quite sure about the apple sauce.

Here are random development milestones:
- she now sits up totally on her own. She'll go from a belly down position to on all fours to her butt. She's quick too.
- we're not crawling yet, but she will find a way to get to an object. If you put a new toy down then she will scoot, roll, inch, etc. until she reaches it. Very funny.
- she now knows how to put her extremities through the slates in her crib. On Sunday night I put her in her crib in our room and she was still a little bit awake. Well, she was crying for about 5 minutes when suddenly her cry turned to a different noise. I went in the room and as I turned the corner by the bed I saw her sitting in the corner with her shoulder out the side of the crib. She was not too happy.
- repeat the scenario above, but now it's Monday and Dad is home with Peyton. She was in her crib in her room and her cry turned to a different noise. She had been down for a nap for about an hour. Dad got up from the recliner and headed down the hallway. Gracie ran in front of him and when she made it to the room she started to bark. Dad thought "hmmmm...that's strange." Dad then entered the room and saw two little eyes peeking over the side of the crib with one huge smile. Peyton was STANDING in the corner of the crib with her hands bracing on each side of the corner. Needless to say, we lowered the mattress that evening.

That's it for now. We'll post more later - especially when our two visitors arrive this weekend!!!!!!!!
