I know I haven't posted in a long time and I owe a bunch of updates as well as photos, but that is not going to happen today. I just wanted to put a quick message on here to wish everyone a happy new year. My goal for 2008 is to slow down and take time to smell the roses. My 2008 is going to be about prioritizes. I am going to prioritize my life. Family will be first. Rob will be gone for 7 months so it is VERY important that I put Peyton first in everything I do. No more overcommitments. I am going to enjoy this time of change in her life.
My 2nd priority is going to be myself. I am going to focus on getting myself back on track. I am going to totally organize my house. Looking forward to some major Spring cleaning and little projects around the house.
Wish me luck on keeping up with my priorities. It's going to be a crazy year full of fun and excitement.
Quick update on Peyton at 6 months (well...in 5 days):
- Sits up completely on her own once you put her in the sitting position
- Is very close to crawling. She gets up on all fours and rock back and forth.
- Can put all her weight on her legs. If you stand her put against something like a table she will stand for a few seconds on her own.
- 100% separation anxiety for her Mommy. She has to have an eye on me at all times. She whines when I leave the room (sometimes cries very loudly.) She also leans out toward me with hands up when I walk by. This has created some challenges, but for the most part I have enjoyed every little cry for me :)
- She has gone through green beans, sweet peas and squash. She likes them all. She still has had no formula. 100% breastfed up to this point. My goals was 6 months so I've made it that far. We'll see how much further I go. I really enjoy breastfeeding, but I've been slacking on my "reserve" in the freezer. I go out of town at the end of this month for 4 days and I need to store that much milk. I figure if I pump an extra bottle everyday this month then I should have enough. Time to get pumpin'!
- Loves her toys - she received a lot for Christmas. She can now scoot toward what she wants, pick up what toy she wants to play with and then shove it in her mouth. Shove is the key word in that sentence.
- Sleeping is still a challenge. We're up a lot at night, but it's quality snuggle time so I can't complain.

Congratulations to MAJOR Robert Douglas! Woohoo! Rob was promoted to Major on Wednesday, January 2, 2008. He totally deserves it. Nothing like being promoted the week you leave for the Philippines. I can't wait to see that first paycheck. It's going to be nice. Although I need to be thinking save...save...save!!! Rob will be gone for 8 months. Fortunately I have my Dad here with me so life isn't so bad.

This is how much Peyton loved Christmas. It was just too overwhelming. She was all dressed up and decided that sleep was far more important than opening presents.
Bathing beauty! First trip to the beach. She loved the sand on her toes and didn't mind the cold ocean water on them either.
