Today marks a significant day in the life of CPT Robert Frank Douglas - he is no longer the company commander of Bravo Co, 37th ENG. It's a bittersweet moment as Rob told me this afternoon. As much as we're excited to move onto the next phase of our military life, it's sad to say goodbye to what you know and the contacts we've had everyday with the individual soldier. Rob did get a little misty during his speech today - who would have thought that rough and tough soldier would lose it a bit :) That was a total joke - those of you who really know Rob know that he's a total baby. (That's a good thing!!)

I did ask Rob if he thanked me in his speech and he said he did. He said that I was his rock and he wouldn't have been as successful as he was if it wasn't for my companionship and help during this time in command. It has been an amazing experience. One I would probably not opt to do again. The highs were high and the lows were low.

Within a 20 minute ceremony today Rob said goodbye to 20 months of a successful command. He was most successful in the fact that he deployed to this foreign war and was able to bring back all 120 soldiers safely. Bravo Co did not lose or have a injury of any soldier. All 120 soldiers will return this week and be able to hug their loved ones! That right there is the number 1 reason my husband was a phenomenal Company Commander!!!!!!!

This is what my kid has to compete with - how gorgeous is this family? Seriously...they could model or something. You are probably asking yourself about now "who is this random family that Kelly strangely posted on her blog? Is she obsessed?" NOPE! This picture is of my step-sister Molli, her hubby Juan and their two beautiful children Ella and Nick. Ella and Nick are 2 1/2 years old and they are just too cute for words. I can not wait for Baby Whatsitsname to meet his/her cousins in July. They'll be about 3 year apart in age.

Status of the Fetus

Fetal Development: I'm a Fetus!
Starting with this week, the baby is now called a fetus. The most critical part of the baby's development is over. This is a period of rapid growth, and the baby is about an inch or so in length at the beginning of the week and will be about 2 inches by the end of the week. The baby's head is about half its length. The eyelids will fuse shut, and the irises will begin to develop. Sometime during this week or the next week, blood will begin to circulate between the baby and uterus and the placenta starts to function.

Maternal Changes:
Your uterus is the size of a small grapefruit already! You may find that your appetite is better as your nausea subsides even though certain smells may bother you.

No worries about my appetite = it's doing just fine...

Annoying BLOG WEBSITE

Just so you all know - I have a fabulous picture that I want to update onto my blog and I can't because I am computer illiterate and they've taken away the easy button where I can upload pictures easily (hence the easy button!)

So, you'll have to settled with just text. How boring. You may never get to see pictures again. My blog may consist of all text. Just text. I wish I could email th eblog company, but I can't figure out how to do that either!!!!

I have questions for my comment folks:

1. ST - give us the low down on the weight issue that you tell your patients. (For those of you who are wondering who ST is she is my college roommate who is now a resident in OB down in Hawaii. I tried to convince her to come to Bragg so she could deliver my baby, but she didn't listen!) So Sai - give us your input.

That's really the only question I had for my comment folks.

Things are trucking along here in Fayetteville. Rob returns in a week and a half. YIPEE!!! I have 800 million things I need to get done before he arrives but I am so not motivated to do any of it. My room looks like a teenage girl went crazy trying to find the right outfit for that special first date. It's a disaster.

I have a super busy week so hopefully I can get through it with no huge problems. Or, I don't fall asleep at my desk :) I've got something to do every night this week. I know it's tough being so popular...lol! That just makes me giggle.
