Peyton and I are adjusting to our life together. Our teamwork is getting better and better with the nursing. Thank God for Lactation Consultants. Whew! Doris Picknery at Womack is phenomenal. She really is a Sainte. The breastfeeding has done a 180 and is so much better. We're both enjoying it now. Well, except when Miss Piggy takes too much milk and starts choking. That's a little scary. Then she doesn't like it when I jerk her upright immediately and put my ear to her nose to make sure she's breathing. SCARY!!! I think that's the first of many scary times that we have ahead of us.
The sleeping is going well. Last night she went to bed at 12:30 and woke up at 4:30 to eat. No crying just noise making. Then we went back to bed at 5:30 and got up at 8:30 because my Aunt was leaving to go home. I probably could have stretched out that last sleep for another half hour :) I really can't complain about the sleep pattern. We are co-sleeping though. I know there is a lot of controversy on this, but when that's the only thing that settles her then that's when I'll do. I did fix our bassinet today where the side drops down and lines up with the edge of the bed. We're going to try that tonight. We'll see how it goes.
So my Aunt Karen was here for a whole week. It was great. She organized my whole house. Peyton's room is completely done. It's so done that she even put post-it notes on all the drawers so we know what's in them. Peyton already has 19 pairs of shoes. Just thought I'd throw that in there! I can't thank Karen enough for coming down and taking care of us. She cooked dinner every night and made sure I always had a glass of water next to my chair. It's the little things that make a huge difference. We will see Karen again in October when I have to go to DC for a work conference. We'll be visiting them. In fact, Peyton will have a slumber party at their house for two nights. That will be hard, but doable. At least she'll be with family.
Well, one week down and 8 more to go on maternity leave. I need to make sure I take in every second because September will be here before I know it.
I will upload more photos later. I need to take some more with my camera. I was relying on Karen this past week. She got some great shots, but they are all hard copies and I don't have a scanner at home.
Until next time....

Dorris Rocks - she changed my whole breastfeeding experience too!!!! send us some pics.... we are dry out here!!!!!
Girls and their shoes :) It only gets worse...
Sleep is sleep. Just like with everything else, you have to do what feels right for you and your family, as long as its safe. And research does demonstrate that cosleeping can be done safely.
Glad you have the nursing thing down too :) Its work for mom and baby until you "get the flow" (sorry for the corny pun).
You all seem to be adjusting well. You are such a mom now with your swing and choking stories :) Before I know it, you will be crying at Hallmark commercials too... like when we went to see StepMom with a box of tissues :)
We want more Peyton Pics!!!
Thanks for the update!! I agree, listen to your instincts, if you and Peyton want to co-sleep, then you co-sleep. YOU know what's best for your beautiful baby.
Congrats on the successful breastfeeding! I thankfully didn't get my period until I was completely done with breastfeeding (and that was a year!). It was GREAT!
Get some sleep when you can, send photos when you can ;) LOVE YOU!
Trust me, she will choke/cough a LOT..... she is just fine, they're bodies will react to it the way they need to! Don't be scared, silly! What are your plans for childcare when you go back to work?
Oh, that was from me.... Karolyn... askign about childcare!
