Low Amniotic Fluid

Latest Update:

1. On Wednesday, I got a call from a midwife at our hospital who was reviewing my midwife's records. Anyway, it seems as that at my last sonogram to see Peyton's face, my amniotic fluid was low. So she wanted to do a rescan to see where it was at now. I was able to sneak in on Wednesday and get this all done. Normal amniotic fluid is between 10-25 according to my midwife. (The Internet says the range is from 5-25.) I am at 8.4. The good news is that I was 8.4 two weeks ago during the initial scan. So now I have to go in twice a week for a fetal monitoring and an amniotic fluid scan (which means a sonogram.) I'll have 2 sonograms a week - how funny is that! Here I thought I'd only have one my whole pregnancy.

Good news - I went in on Friday for my 2nd scanning and my amniotic fluid went up from 8.4 to 10.6. I have been chugging water like no body's business. One of the potential reasons for low fluid is dehydration. It could also be where Peyton is taking up a lot of room so they're unable to get a good measurement. Or, it could be as severe as a kidney problem. I really don't think it's a kidney problem.

Currently I am measuring at 31 weeks and I am 33 weeks along. That could be the other reason. She doesn't have much room to move maybe. For some reason my body is not growing at the same rate Peyton is growing. That's why I look smaller than normal. It's not always a good thing to be small in the pregnant belly area. Hopefully I'm in between a growth spurt or something.

Change of subject: Baby Shower at Work

I had a FABULOUS baby shower at work yesterday. My coworkers totally went above and beyond and spoiled me rotten. I think I got everything on my Target registry. I received all of the big things - 2 convertible car seats, highchair, pack-n-play, mattress, exersaucer, 3 papsan chairs, a side bed crib and a bunch of clothes. The clothes included 2 bathing suits. One bikini that Rob was not happy about :) And, one full piece that made him feel much better. The bottom line is that I love my job and my coworkers and Peyton is totally spoiled :)

Well, we will certainly be thinking about you these next few weeks. Things seem ok enough, by what you have relayed.

Let me know if I can do anything, not that I am local, but still...

It sounds like you are more in the clear now than a few weeks ago which is good. Stay hydrated...and hang in there, I'm almost right down the street if you want to get away or if any of your untras are in Raleigh.
