Happy 30th B-day to me!

Happy 30th Birthday To Me (June 5th.) Thank you all for your happy b-day wishes. I had a nice birthday. It was nice to be out of the hospital - more on that later in the blog.
Beautiful flowers sent by my loving husband. I love that they are different. We have enjoyed a lot of flowers this week.
These were the BEST - talk about a perfect indulgence for the big 3 o. Rob sent chocolate covered strawberries. They are so yummy. Dad and I are doing our best going through them. YUM!!!! I can't explain how delicious they are. Great gift honey!

Another bouquet of flowers. These were for a very different reason. Thank to my Communications Team for the lovely roses. All the other patients at the hospital were very jealous.
I am so loved. These were sent to the hospital from my office. They smelled so lovely.

Ok...so you are probably saying to yourself "what do you mean you were in the hospital?" Yup. On Friday, May 23rd I woke up to get ready for my trip to Florida for Memorial Day weekend. I was having a few symptoms of a UTI, but at that point I was literally getting on a plane. So while I was in FL I took some over the counter drugs. They worked great. Got back on Tuesday and was prescribed some antibiotics and more pain medicine. Things were going well as I thought everything was taken care of. Then Thursday night came. My body basically shut down. I was having severe chills, high fevers, throwing up, etc. I was convinced that I had the flu. I was exhausted from the weekend and a full work week so I figured my body had just caught something. Friday was worse. I laid in bed and slept all day. Well...I slept in between freezing, sweating and throwing up. My Aunt Karen arrived on Friday evening and asked me "what's your temperature?" I had no clue. I hadn't taken it. So over the course of the night my fever spiked at 103.5. I figured at that point I should probably go to the ER, get some fluids and some medicine. On Saturday morning I waited for everyone to get up and I told my Dad it was time to go to the ER. We were very lucky when we got there. One person was in line in front of us. Whew!

To make a long story short = my body never responded to the original antibiotics so the minor infection I once had turned into a kidney infection. The doctors said that they get nervous when your white blood cell count gets to 500. Mine was at 2,100. Yup - I was very, very sick. They admitted me immediately and started pumping me with antibiotics through my IV. One night turned into to two and then eventually three. I was admitted on Saturday and was released on Tuesday. Thank heavens again for my Dad. I really don't know what I would have done with Peyton if Dad wasn't my lifesaver. Words really can't express how fortunate I am to have my Dad as our primary caregiver. And, I do say ours. He takes care of both of us. Peyton and I would be lost without him. I guess he gets a little bonus this month for the extra care :)

I'm now feeling much better. I'm still on an antibiotic for 14 days and have a follow up appointment to make sure everything is okay. There was no permanent damage, but if I ever get another UTI I have to tell the doctor that my body does not respond to that particular antibiotic and that I've had a kidney infection in my past. Drama for your Mama!

Needless to say I was very happy to be out of the hospital for my 30th birthday. What a whirlwind of activity. Thanks to everyone who knew I was in the hospital and sent me well wishes.

Real quick - many people asked me how it felt to be 30? I wanted to answer that question. It feels great. I am thrilled to be 30. I am at a place in my life where things are perfect. I have reached all my goals. I'm married to the man of my life who is so kind and thoughtful and loves us tremendously. I am a proud military spouse who enjoys the military culture and lifestyle. I am a very proud Mama. I made my deadline of having a baby before I was thirty. Now it's time to go for round two :) And, I am at a great place in my career. I love my job. I love the people I work with and for. And, I love what my company stands for. Things are great. Thirty is great. I hope the next 10 years are as exciting at the last 10.

Glad you are all better now... there had to be SOME drama around turning 30. See, what happens when you get old, your body just shuts down. (jk)
Rob did quite the job with those flowers AND chocolate.
Round 2 :)

Happy Late Birthday! I'm so glad you were out of the hospital to enjoy it. Yuck on the infection! But hurray on your short wait at the ER. I've only had 1 UTI and I had to wait at WAMC's ER for 6 HOURS!
Also, I still think Picerne is THE BEST in military privitised housing. American Eagle has been ultra blah for their care and friendliness. I've decided that all they care about is our money. Anyway, could write a whole book on that but I won't.
Take care,
Beth
