Peyton is growing up so fast. She rolled over on Thursday. Dad has her up stairs doing tummy time and she kept rolling from her back to her belly. Then she would fuss some and he'd put her back then she'd roll over again. Finally he let her fuss and she fell asleep on her tummy. She slept for 3 hours on her belly. Then she did it again on Friday. Very exciting except when it comes to night time. Now we want to roll over at night on to our bellies. Normally this would not be a problem, but her bassinet is too small for her to roll over. She then gets frustrated and starts "bitching." I wake up and feed her and then put her back down asleep. I think she actually ended up sleeping with me last night. It was easier. So here comes the BIG question - do I move her up to crib in the nursery? I have a few fears about doing this:
1. What if she rolls onto her tummy and doesn't turn her head and then suffocates?
2. What is she continuous to wake up at night? Then I'm going to have to keep going upstairs to get her which will wake me even more than it does now. Before the rolling over incident she was going to bed at 7 p.m., waking up at 3:30 a.m. to eat and then getting up for good around 7 a.m. This was perfect.
My other option is to move her Pack-n-Play into my room which would give her more space to roll over. If we do this then we have to move "Peyton Central" from our living room. We have a little place set up with her Pack-n-Play - we change her diapers there and we have her clothes down here to make it easier. For those of you who don't know our master bedroom is downstairs and all of our other rooms are upstairs. I know...it's just stairs and I could use the workout. I think that's what I'm going to have to start doing. It's just so much easier that we're all down here. Although we'll probably start using the MAN ROOM soon since she's going to be rolling, crawling, walking, etc.
This was a total ramble, but any advice would be great.
Thanks,
Kel

She's rolling already? Wow this one is in a hurry!!!!! WHat are you feeding her??Try moving her up stairs the worst that can happen is you hate it and move her back down stairs. Oh what us mothers go through with every decision that affects our children (who would ever have thought)
Ok, trying to think...
First, whenever babies learn a new school, their sleep often gets interrupted (as you learned) because they are practicing then and their systems get thrown off. I hear it all the time at work and remember from Lexie.
Two- go ahead and try to nursery. She may fuss a little, but might work herself through it. We had Lexie in her room/crib pretty early (about 5 or 6 weeks) and it made for better sleep for everyone, especially once she hit that once nightly feeding. Do you think a video monitor would ease your concern? I never had one, but I know of a lot of people with 2 story houses who swear by them. My friend still uses it on her 4 year old!
Three- I have read that once babies are skilled enough to roll, they usually have the control/strength to turn their head to breath. (This never eased my own neuroticism though.) Observe her with tummy time maybe, when she gets tired... how is her head control. I don't know. Who am I to talk? If I checked on Lexie when she was under 6 months and she was on her belly, I would flip her on her back. Thankfully she preferred back sleeping :)
And lastly, YOU GO GIRL! That is huge- rolling over and at under 3 months!
We are off to Disney the end of this week to celebrate using the potty!
According to Hanna & Tommy's pediatrician, if the baby can roll over, it is safe for him/her to sleep on their tummy, they'll turn their head to breath. I had to ask the question again too... after 7 years, you tend to forget all that stuff!
And try the nursery, it is so cute, how can you not use it?! Let her fuss a little, and if you hate it, you can always use the pack n play in your room.

Start her on her belly!! :) If she sleeps better there and wants to be there then go for it, but you can also have her sleep with you if your more comfortable. I know that when I worked I nursed and decided early on that getting up in the middle of the night woke me up so much that it took me an hour to get back to sleep. So we had a family bed till the kids were about 6-7 months. Harder to break that habit, but peace of mind.
Also you will tend to sleep with the monitor on your pillow practically under your ear. At least I did, as there weren't video monitors then. BUT there are now, and they are not expensive and how cool to peek at her when you are in another room, think ahead too... after nap and she is say 6 months old in her crib, she fusses, you know she is awake, but some babies will play and talk to themselves for a good 15 minutes before they start to really let you know they are awake!!
I would totally get the video monitor... too convienent to pass up I say!!!
Your doing great by the way Kelly!! NOt only are you working, nursing and being a great wife, mother and daughter, you are keeping up with this blog!!!
