Happy Valentine's Day to ME!

My darling husband surprised me today with these beautiful roses. We weren't supposed to exchange gifts, but, of course, being Rob he went ahead and surprised me. He's such a doll. They smell so pretty.

Also, we have an update on Rob's career. He has started his Civil Affairs course on Monday and so far so good. He passed his PT test as well as his weigh in. Yesterday they asked them to put together a wish list of what languages they would like. Rob listed his with Korean being his third choice. (For those of you who don't know Rob was a Korean linguist when he was enlisted.) Speed up the story to yesterday afternoon. A LTC came in to brief the class about the process of the language school. He began by saying that some of them would not take the language school portion because of their efficiency in their language. He proceeded to say that he knows already of 5 guys who tested high enough on Spanish and one guy who tested out on Korean. Rob's bottom lip stuck out at that point. He asked the guy if he would still be considered current since he took the language test 15 years ago. The guy said "oh, are you my Spanish speaker?" Rob replied "no sir, I'm the Korean linguist." The guy said "Ha! I've never had a Captain score that high on a language test so there is no way you'll be taking the Korean course."

Good news is that this puts Rob in the Pacific region instead of the Middle East. The bad news is that it speeds up his time line which means he could deploy as early as September. That would suck considering Peyton would only be 3 months old. But, the deployment would only be for 6 months. He would miss a lot, but be back when Peyton really started to develop and interact.

That's the Douglas update.

Hey Kel!

Just catching up on your blog as I've been moving all weekend..glad to hear everything is going well with you and Rob and Peyton.

I thought Rob was an engineer officer, is he switching or now will be an espanol engineer?

We were supposed to close on Friday but won't be closing until Tues and will be having an open house shortly.

Happy Valentines day and early happy anniversary!!

Well, darn if Rob isn't too good at things... if only he was a little more of a slacker (he he)

Yeah, happy early anny too.

Crack, whats the house holdup? Does that mess up your temp housing situation? (Kel, sorry to use your blog as a channel to Crack)

We still need to get together. Maybe we should plan a month out :) Yes, Rob has switched branches. He is now a Civil Affairs guy.

I don't mind using my blog as a communication link for old Barry alums. By the way, Barry is stalking me. They call my house every night. I don't answer. I know they want money and I'm not sending them any.

Thanks for the Anniversary wishes!

Yeah- but its pathetic for me to use it to talk to Crack considering we email nearly daily :) I got my answers anyway...

Speaking of Barry alum, saw Bridget on TV watching her bro when Tenn. played at UF a few weekends ago. Still looks like same old Bridget :)
