Pregnesia

Yup - it's official I have Pregnesia, Fetal Forgetfulness, etc. Some say it's because the baby is sucking ALL of my brain power. I just want everyone to know that I have spent the last 40 minutes trying to log onto my blog page and FINALLY I got it right. I was doing it wrong the whole time.

It's been awhile since we last chatted. Here's the update:

Thursday, December 14th -Rob got in from Afghanistan

Friday, December 15th - First real pregnancy appointment. There's a brief run down on how this appointment went:
1. My midwife is a dude. Yes, a male. He is a CPT and he's quite blunt.
2. My midwife said I'm fat. He used the word fat, chubby, extra cushion, etc. (Refer to item 1 for explanation on him being blunt.)
3. My midwife is the ONLY lactation specialist for our hospital. The ONLY one. (Refer to item 1 for why this seems odd.)
4. The heartbeat was an amazing experience. CPT Blunt...I mean CPT Johnston was able to find the heartbeat within 30 seconds. It was awesome. The beat was 169. This is very fast, but very normal. He said that all babies in the 12th week should have a heartbeat over 160. No wives tales to listen to yet.
5. I have an appointment to go see a Nutritionist on January 4th. I'm sure they'll tell me everything I know and ignore currently. I guess I need to start paying attention.
6. So far so good - no sickness or anything yet.
7. Lactation Specialist Blunt said that my bra was completely wrong for me and that I needed to get a BIGGER size. So I have now gone from a D to a DD to an F and now I am a G. Yes, maternity bras do go to this size. Here's the fun part - our good ole Fayetteville stores do not carry a G. I need to go online and have not gotten around to that yet. Dad says I should just tie two sock caps around my chest. I'm about at that point.

Friday night, December 15th - Work Holiday Party
1. Totally different experience when you're sober. I told Dad to enjoy the party this year because next year he'll be home with the baby :) I'll be getting trashed.

That's about it. Rob and I are leaving for Mobile tomorrow afternoon. We'll get to meet our new niece Emily. Can't wait. We're also hoping that our dear friend Rachel will hold in Dipstick for just a few more days. We'll be back the 28th and we'd like to be present for the birth of the baby Huse. I have a t-shirt and everything. We'll post pictures afterwards.

Take care and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!!!!!!

I think it's fun to picture your midwife as James Blunt. You're there trying to get an ultrasound and he busts out his guitar and starts singing 'my life is brilliant...'.

Pretty sure Rob would punch him (refer to item above for explanation...).

that's funny, Storm - because I think CPT Johnston's first name is James! ha ha!

I told Kelly that (aside from the weight comments) she might need a blunt midwife...otherwise, with HER being so blunt, she might make one of THEM cry! :-)

I'll keep my legs crossed, Kelly...but I can't promise anything.

too far?

If anyone can handle a blunt midwife, then it would be Kelly...

I will refrain from the other blunt wordplays that came to mind.

(Kelly, what IS your due date?)

Don't buy bras from anywhere else but www.motherwear.com. They have the BEST bras and they will walk you thorough the measuring. They are very expensive but totally worth it and so far have lasted through 2 pregnancies.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!
Love,A.
